'Project Runway's' Jack Mackenroth and Kevin Christiana Admit Gross Secret

We think this is absolutely gross subject matter, but it's a good style tip for some of you, so here's a little snippet from our favorite mag, New York:

The most valuable lesson Jack Mackenroth and Kevin Christiana learned from last season's
Project Runway didn't have anything to do with speed sewing or "making it work." "If we're sweaty, we put panty liners under our arms, so [we] don't sweat," Mackenroth said last night at Gen Art's "Fresh Faces in Fashion" at the Manhattan Center. "I learned that from my roommates on the show," Christiana chimed in. "At one point, I had the cameras actually on me, and I dropped my notepad and all the panty liners fell out. And I had to clean them up real fast." Added Mackenroth: "You've got to get the ones with the sticky side, so you can stick them onto your clothes." (He recommends Always brand panty liners in the purple box.)

In other news, J-Mack and Kevin have teamed up on a couple of other projects: First, Jack tells us, the two designers are working on campaign for Vibrant Rioja wine (see designs below), as well as pitching a new reality show--a sort of Project Runway-Queer Eye blend--to various networks (notably, Bravo isn't one of them).

We hope this show gets picked up! We haven't paid enough attention to Kevin C., but we were instantly captivated by Jack on 'Runway'--and not just because he's gorgeous. Jack has been outspoken about living with HIV--and since young gay guys seem not to give a damn anymore, we need as many Jacks as we can get--and his designs were always impeccable on 'Runway.' We're hoping to see more of J-Mack on TV, and also on the runway.

Check in with Jack's Web site for more.

JMack Won't Be Back on Project Runway :-(

We were sure the delicious and uber-talented Jack Mackenroth would be back on the next season of Project Runway...but we were wrong. We're sad, but we understand: First of all, Runway is moving from gay-friendly Bravo to "Television for Women" network Lifetime, which is pretty sure to change at least some elements of the production and tone down the gay factor at least a little bit. But more importantly, as Jack told the New York Post in the quote below, his specialty is menswear, which Runway notoriously disregards. It's a shame; with the influence Runway has had on the public's interest in and knowledge of fashion, the show could really open people's minds to more interesting men's stylings.

Oh well. Jack will be fine, and we'll be on the lookout for his designs...here's what Jack told the NY Post.

“After a long process of weighing the pros and cons of returning to Project Runway Season 5, I have decided not to audition again. Though I loved my experience on the show and hope to continue working with Bravo in the future, I really feel that it’s time to start the next chapter of my life. During my short stint on season 4, I was never in the bottom three and I won the menswear challenge, which is my field of expertise, so I feel like I accomplished most of what I started.

I do, however, want to thank all the viewers and vocal fans who have continually voiced their desire to see me back on Season 5. I hope that I haven’t let anyone down, but in the end I came to realize that I could not give up another year of my life. Even my short stint on Project Runway has presented me with so many opportunities ranging from design to television and an area that is closest to my heart, HIV activism. I really couldn’t have asked for more.

I especially want to give thanks to the HIV community, which has been so supportive over the last year. If anything, I hope that I have shown you that it is possible to live successfully with HIV. You have not seen the last of me!

To the next batch of designers on Season 5…sew your hearts out!”

JMack with ANTM's Nigel Barker

JMack's superboobies!

He's a star!

We're honestly not sure exactly what's going on here.

Or here.

Eff Project Runway! He's already a winner!

...and sooo hot...

...and sooo sensitive....

...and sooo intense...

...and sooo...pumped!

And bare!

And ____________________.

[Fill in the blank yourself. You're on your own for the rest of these.]

Happy 39th birthday to hot Taurus, brilliant designer, reality TV star and AIDS activist Jack Mackenroth!

Jack is arguably the most visible Project Runway candidate ever, or at least is in fierce competition for that title with current winner Christian Siriano, which is ironic since Jack had to leave the show halfway through the season due to illness.

Well, there's no question Jack is back and, er, bigger than ever!

We love you, Jack, and we hope you come back to the show next season despite its move to Lifetime, which still calls itself "television for women."

Jack is enough man for all of us! Wish Jack a happy birthday on his MySpace page!
